I've been thinking of getting a new car for a while; something with better gas mileage than my caravan. The caravan was nice when I was moving around a lot, but now that I don't expect to have to pack up everything I own and drive across country with it any time in the near future, its time to get something a bit more appropriate

YMMV, so to speak, but I'm not sold on the Prius. It's a lot of money for a pretty minimal improvement in efficiency over other vehicles. I'm pretty convinced that the hybrid cars really exist to show other people that you drive a hybrid car

The cars compare well to the Prius when you look at highway driving, but most of my driving will be in the city, where the Prius gets a good deal better mileage than the cars you mention. Actually, I'd optimally like to get one of the upcoming plug-in hybrids, since I think with my driving habits I'd end up using approximately zero gas. But, I don't want to wait a couple years for a new car.

But the bottom line is that I like the Prius, and its what I'm going to get.
