Alrighty everyone, we made it!
Here's goes!
[Yay!]
  • There are so many things that we leave unsaid, and when we hesitate, why is it that what comes out next is just like a;ldjfa;ljdsgh. Our heart is in the right place, the feeling we want to convey is there, but the words don't come out right. This is pretty cliched, but I think the Hyuga/Natsui scene in ( Read more... )

-Honestly that whole "a;ldjfa;ljdsgh" where words don't come out right thing, I've never experienced it from either the speaking end or the hearing end. I've never even heard anyone refer to it, other than in dramas of course. So some people actually have conversations like that? It is hard for me to imagine. I suppose if I had conversations like that maybe I would have appreciated this drama a lot more lol ( ... )

I experience this from time to time -like I'll mean to say something, and then say something else entirely, and then I can't backtrack and say what I wanted, because it's become too awkward xD But the awkwardness is probably also my imagination, and so maybe for the person hearing the conversation, nothing went wrong 'cause they didn't know what I had intended to say (that sounded better). lol
I think I'm getting better though xD

I would love to do another one right away :D
No problem!

That is a really good point about the person hearing the conversation not noticing anything weird because they were not aware of the original intent. I don't really have awkward conversations, at least not awkward to me; maybe the other person feels awkward and I should notice more or something.

Really? Are there any particular dramas you would want to do off the top of your head?

Now that you mention it, I wonder if it would be better for the other person to notice the awkwardness, or better if it's only in the person's head and not really be awkward...lol
Well, it gives me hope that people actually don't notice my presumed awkwardness xD

I kind of want to see how a Korean drama will fare in the DWA, lol, but that would be up to the group to decide. Otherwise, I don't have anything in mind. How about you?

I like you too much, I can't see you anymore

i really don't like the subs for this drama because they miss ALL the nuance. i dunno if you are getting this phrasing from the subs or not, but the phrase that hyuga was agonizing over was "suki sugite, tsurai" - "i like you so much, it's painful." and the message i got from natsui with this was that it was about her feeling inadequate next to hyuga. not in the sense that she wasn't good enough for him, but that she felt that after how much he had improved himself, how much he had changed and grown, she needed to do so as well. and so being with him was painful because it made her realize what she wanted to be and furthermore, what she could not get from him and could only get herself by becoming better/stronger individually. which is totally why i loved the ending and that he acknowledged that who she was an an individual with her own path was just as important as who he was (which is something he wasn't able to do at the beginning if you look again at the first episode).

i absolutely ( ... )

Hmmm, I hadn't seen it that way. I read "tsurai" as hard and not painful, but it definitely makes more sense the way you've put it. And yea, I've totally missed the nuance of her characterization and that's why it felt off. Even with wanting to grow individually, I still don't quite understand why you would deprive yourself from seeing the person you're happy with...but I guess that is her. Maybe she thought she would concentrate on him too much? Hmm, thanks for sharing that insight :)

I will agree that Hyuga's development was nice and evident (as I was blind to Natsui's xD).

Vacations are okay! (But I'm glad you're back.)

I agree that the pattern you mentioned with Asahina was not believable. Personally I didn't find Hyuga's change believable either, but I didn't buy the character from the beginning so I guess you would expect that.

My image of those types of airport or similar scenes is that usually the person leaves, so I was like "yup, just as I though she left rather than stayed behind after the confession." I wonder if people actually do leave more often or if those ones just left a stronger impression on me for some reason. XD

I'm really glad you watched with us even though in the end it wasn't particularly exciting to you (me neither). It was interesting for me to think about your comments being from the perspective of someone who hasn't watched a lot of dramas, though I also found them interesting besides that anyway. Also, I've seen tons of dramas and would not re-watch most of them. ;D

It's all good :)

Yea, I agree that how quickly he changed was totally not realistic. I was waiting for him to become psychotic in prison xD

I somehow expected pregnant/having baby Natsui
OMG ME TOO! lol
Yea, those airport scenes usually make me think she'll stay too. I think it's because most dramas are so centered around the pairing, that we lose sight of the reality, where people can't just drop their lives for the sake of romance xD

I'm glad you could join us, especially with your fresh perspectives :D

I can't remember anything more than a run of airport from last ep, tjat's why i don't comment here. I must be very sleepy that time but i don't plan to rewatch this ep xD. I've just read the discussion to convince myself i didn't missed anything important, so this DWA was good forme that way too XD

I'm sorry that this was not a great drama for you, but I'm glad we could summarize things up for you so you're not missing anything xD lol
If we were to do another DWA, are there any dramas that you'd want to watch off the top of your head?

I thought it was a light drama. I like how redemption was explored and how Hyuga's character changed for the best. It's nice when they have character development like that. A few dramas lack that these days. It's not a super flashy drama, but I didn't mind watching it. I thought it was cute ^^
