[ It's been a week since she got into the universe of the compound, but she's spent it all on her own. Running from zombies? Not her idea of a good time. Even worse is when they got a hold of her and decided to try and make her into lunch ( Read more... )

As long as you've got someone on their way to help you, I think you'll be alright. [ Pause. Buffy's past sugarcoating shit here. She's been here a WHILE. ]

You're going to be quarantined for a week or so. Maybe longer, depending on how bad it looks. [ Another pause. ]

Dean and Sam are taking care of you, right?

[ SIGH. Tone softening. ] Look. I get that you've been through a lot. I understand what it's like to have the whole world thrown at you and be expected to carry it on your shoulders. But coddling isn't going to fix that. I'm sorry.

First of all, you don't understand anything about what I've gone through, and the words without the sentiment dont' mean anything. I'm not expecting coddling. Dealing is easy -- I've been dealing on my own for a week, the last thing I need is coddling. But, there are better ways to welcome people in than "hi, better head to quarantine before we start going for headshots." Like maybe an actual welcome and some idea of what this place is and who you are?

There are going to be people coming here who aren't like me. Who couldn't handle it. Who haven't seen horrible things like this before. You should learn how to help them instead of just saying "tough break, kid."

You don't know what I understand and what I don't.

[ This is - worse than the potentials. And a part of her? Knows that being comforting would be the better thing to do from a personal standpoint. But war is war. ] I'm sorry you're stuck here. I'm sorry the world made it necessary for you to find your way here just to survive. And we'll do everything we can to keep everybody comfortable but the long and short of it is: this is a war. Us, and them, and if we're the ones who're going to survive I can't waste my time showering confetti and care baskets on every new arrival.

[ CLICK. We'll... make sure somehow that they wind up bros later or something shit. This did not go as planned. ]
