pooey on air mattresses!bytchearseJune 24 2010, 11:30:49 UTC
They pack flat but go flat. Then again, you are not a 250lb guy either.
Craig's list or freecycle for a futon mattress. Also search IKEA for the "Sultan" foam mattress line. I managed to get lucky of Craiglist BTW and got a futon for $20...and the girl threw in the mattress she had for it. An IKEA Sultan!
I dislike air mattresses. I tried using one at Gulf War and it screwed up my back (along with the 23 hour drive). That and the defalting and cold problems make me never want to use one again.
If you do go with the foam thing, test it out before Pennsic. You can get mattress toppers that are soft foam that can help pad them if they are too firm or bottom out on you. Otherwise I would recommend a futon.
I've always found the ground to be comfy. It's thick enough to not let wooden slats through and it won't deflate. Added bonus: it's already under wherever you put your tent.
See how much simpler that is. Problem solved, crisis averted, cargo space saved.
That will be 2 ciders for the service. Please drive through.
