You humans have grown so attached to your Earth. What is it about that patch of dirt and smoke that you cherish so much?

[He scoffs gently.] You can't even defend it properly. You realize that. If not for the Nietzscheans and the Magog, someone else would have come after you. [He laughs a bit, but it's really without humor.]

I'm not totally sure about the history of Earth where you come from, but back home? People have come after us, and we've done just fine.

[This is totally not a sore subject, what makes you think that? :c]

What are you referring to?

[Because, like Trip, the Earth he knew of was a little backwater but fine.]

The one you created.

[This is... odd. But it's at least answers.]

The Magog have progressed as far as Earth? [He hates the Magog, hates them so much.] ...And the Nietzcheans?

[Hey! Wait now! Where did this come from? That's like calling him out and saying he sucks at his job. Which he doesn't.]

I hate to say it [No he doesn't, not at all] My people can usually handle whatever is thrown at them. And they have against things a lot worse than you...

I don't know what the hell a Magog is, though.

[There's a bit of a laugh here.]

Because it's more than just dirt and smoke and there's no point giving up on something just because it might be gone later. If you really believe that? Then I feel bad for poor Jim.

Besides, it's the little things you wouldn't even begin to know unless you've been there.

Poor Jim. Yes. Let's feel badly for poor Jim because his warden doesn't let him believe in rainbows and sunshine.

I've been there.

More like: poor Jim because his warden's judging things and people before he even checks them out.

[Even if Narvin's not keen on Earth itself, destroyed home planets are a bit of a sore spot for him.]

In my universe, hostile species attempt to destroy or enslave Earth on a regular basis, yet somehow the apes manage to hold on to their rock through the millennia.
