....Since when does LJ show (accidentally) logged-out users only cuts that say "this content may be inappropriate for minors"?

ANNOYED. (although at least it let me figure out I had somehow magically been logged out.)

For several months now? Dreamwidth does this too, and I get hugely irrationally irritated about it.

Ah. Shows you how long since i accidentally loaded my f-list not logged in.

DW does it, yeah, but you can tell it "Don't show me this again" and it'll remember, I think, even if you're not logged in. (And with a DW or OpenID account, you can tell it to never do it when you're logged in.)

Yeah, it assumes everyone who's logged out is 13 or under, and thus tags every entry on a journal flagged as anything other than "safe for everyone" with warning cut tags.

This is one reason I don't flag my journal as a whole, even though I occasionally will post stuff that's maybe a PG-13 or something. Even that's pretty far between, and my day-to-day posts really don't need that warning. Yet practically anyone who ever writes fanfic, and all communities for fanfic, or even fanfic RECS, are flagged that way. It's incredibly obnoxious when I'm stalking my visitors invisibly.

It's done this for a while, but only for users and communities who have themselves marked as having "adult content"

I think it's always done that, although I think there's probably some kind of algorithm to determine what's inappropriate. I got flagged on a couple of comics scans (around the big "Killing Captain America" thing) that they were inappropriate for those under 14 (I think that was the age, it was awhile ago, now).

I wonder if the use of the word "fuck" would count. Anybody want to start a new LJ with a first post consisting of just the one word to find out?

Apparently it has to do with the journal owner's settings as to whether they post adult content. (Which is a whole other big to-do. blargle.) oh well. At least i know how to instantly recognize if I'm accidentally reading LJ whilst logged out...

It's done that for over a year, now. It's only for journals that're marked as "some adult content" or "unsuitable for minors", though.
