I'm in chapter 4. I'm having very similar thoughts about Ms. Vanille - there are a lot of red flags. I would like her more if she didn't find everything so funny. Stop giggling! She just comes across as an airhead.

I'm trying not to overly hate the characters since I'm sure they'll all get their development arcs sooner or later!! It's just too bad there isn't a wily Balthier this time around!

I'm not sure why I like her. I shouldn't like her. She's the peppy one. But! Confusing. (It's sort of like how I like Rise and Yukari? Maybe it's the voice actress?)

I totally miss Balthier. Le sigh.

Yay! Chapters 1-3 are probably the most boring chapters of the game. I hope you really enjoy the rest of the game!

(I think Lightning will grow on you, tho. Just give her some more time. :) )

We'll see. I sort of had this problem with FF8, too, where I didn't like a lot of the characters, and I wound up liking the game okayish.

LOL! I hadn't noticed, but that's because my boy is playing Dragon Age on my computer, so we have competing sound, and the brassy combat fanfare combined with Alistair's "For the Grey Wardens!" tends to override any inappropriate noises Vanille might make. XD

And your spoiler has much merit! But possibly there will be a bait and switch? Ahaha, I keep hoping RPG tropes will be cleverly averted; one day I might not be disappointed. ._.
