If you can just survive until you get two pieces of Dragon or Genji armour, it'll be a lot better (one for Kain, one for Cecil.) It takes the Red Robots of Doom and the Dark Wizards or whatever down to a manageable level by cutting their damage output in half. Edge, naturally, will still just get violated by magic damage.

IF it's just Kain, swipe his helmet or something and throw it on Cecil. It helps ENORMOUSLY against those groups of mages.
