Not feeling the best today :( Not sure if I will be up for the bachelorette party tonight. Blahhhhh.

It's been a quiet rest of the week; we went to wrenbow's on St. Patrick's for corned beef stew, kelly-green Rice Krispies treats courtesy of Josh, and some rerun eps of Boston Legal, which was fun. I've spent most of the rest of the week in something ( Read more... )

People raved about Grandia, but the one time I tried to play it, I got bored within 30 minutes. Oddly, I loved Grandia 2, but have the same reaction with the third installment. Maybe if they make a fourth, I'll enjoy that one, if the pattern holds true.

What are your thoughts on the Fire Emblem series? I'm currently half-way through the re-release of the original for the DS, and I'm enjoying it, and I also liked the GC game. The "characters stay dead" aspect is annoying, but I like the generally-relaxed overall difficulty of the games, which make them not as mind-numbingly frustrating as Ogre Battle.

honestgamer cannot comprehend my loathing of Grandia. It just irritates the heck out of me and I gave up after 6 hours or so.

I haven't played much FE. I own the Wii one - Radiant Dawn - and I got a little ways into it, but a) tactical games are not my forte by a long shot; b) dead-staying-dead aspect annoys me no end. I'll probably get back to it someday, but in the meantime, I've got a super long list to clear out :)

Stick with FE - Once you work up your characters a little bit, it's normally pretty easy. If you need help, most guides on GameFAQs will advise a group of eight to 12 characters to stick with. Otherwise, you can get overwhelmed trying to keep all 30+ characters you can recruit in each game at decent levels. The storylines of each game are somewhat interesting though, at least to me.

Your super long list makes me feel less self-conscious about my own inventory of unplayed games and my long queue on GameFly.
