The good news: I have Taliesin back! The so-called "system error" that Best Buy was getting was, as I suspected, the one from the broken drivers from my wireless card, because Microsoft fucked up the coding on SP3 (big fucking surprise) and it ate the wireless card. So, I have Taliesin back, everything runs nicely, and all of my data is intact ( Read more... )

I have had an idea for my Yuletide story for weeks! And even words on it! ...And apparently my subconscious is dead set on this one idea, which is long and complicated and plotty when I know I don't handle plot all that well!

*headdesk*

*keeps on plugging*

*cheers you on*

I have a vague idea for mine, and it's something I love to do - snark - but I'm pretty much "do not WANT" at everything that is not Persona 4 right now. XD

This card seems like a pretty good one. I have an 8500 myself.

So long as you have PCI express (I know, I know, you'll have to ask Mike :p) this seems like a stable card that should be able to run whatever you need. Has good reviews all around. And it's cheap. :D

I don't need the wireless card for my desktop; Taliesin is hard-wired into the router. So when we set up Taliesin last night, I had Mike just remove the wireless card; I'll wrap it in plastic and put it in the electronics drawer, and it can hang out there until wireless is actually necessary for him. Makes more sense to just uninstall the whole mess.

Um....I'm not sure if you visited the link I provided ('course, looking at it now in your style, it doesn't even appear as a link, but "This card" in my previous comment is a link)

I linked you a video card. You mentioned that you couldn't play your game on the integrated card you have now, so I thought I'd throw out an inexpensive suggestion. :)

Ooooooh, I thought you were talking about wireless. Ha. No, I did not. CAUGHT OUT.

(It appears as a link to me, but the way my style renders visited links, they look like normal text.)

We want to get some other stuff, too - RAM, and a new power supply - so we'll see.

With all the writing you do, how do you NOT have RSI/Carpul Tunnel? o.O

It's one of the great mysteries of the world!

Okay, no, actually, I had a lot more wrist problems a) at my old job (where ergonomics were nonexistent) and b) when my laptop was my primary computer. I still get wrist problems using my laptop if I try to write intensively on it. For the majority of NaNoWriMo, I worked on my desktop computer, which has an ergo keyboard that sits at the perfect height for my hands.

Also, when I write, I tend to write in short, intense bursts (most of my 2400+ word days were done in an hour or two) and then go do something else that's not as hard on me.

I noticed wrist problems in college (unsurprising, what with spending 12 hours a day in the GR) and started looking in to what I could do to not have those problems, so I don't know if I'm resilient, or what.

I keep having this strange lag in Imagine. After a random amount of time (5 mins to a few hours), the game will lag almost to a standstill. What is so strange about it is that if I constantly move my mouse the game plays fine, as soon as I stop moving the mouse it lags.
I had this happen in another game but I don't remember which one it was or what I did to fix it.

Not that I had the time to play it, P4 owns me right now. Up to saving the biker gang guy (forget his name right now).

Yeah, the biker dungeon is super awesome. I love it.

I get weird lag in Imagine sometimes too, but that's what you get with a beta, yeah?
