If you're dissatisfied with LJ in any way - or even if you're not - you should really check out this post by synecdochic about a totally hypothetical idea, because I for one find point #2 on the list to be of super important interest to me.

Discussion, people, it's the lifeblood of the Internets. Or at least of LJ-like things.

Watched more Avatar tonight ( Read more... )

ZUTARA?!

Hahah, Avatar is great, but the fandom is kinda crazy. Like, crazier than FF7 crazy. But Zuko just keeps getting better!! Just wait for season 2 :P

I started shipping Zuko/Kitara the second he offered to save her from the pirates.

As Zuko becomes EVEN MORE FUCKING AWESOME my love for him grows and I become more obsessed.

I also spent my entire night watching Buffy. oh God do I not need another fandom. Do not need.

I only just *started* it last week? I think? So I think I'm doing pretty good.

So many hearts. OMG, so many hearts. Zuko. ♥ ♥ ♥

The trouble is the way everyone's working on different projects. A lot of time/money is going into scribblit, but synecdochic seems to be talking about something different again... Sigh.

I think she is, but a lot of what points me in her direction is that I know she used to work for LJ before it got all cocked up by 6A, and I know she is fannish-with-a-real-brain unlike apparently 90% of LJ fandom (F-list excluded on basis of having brains for sure), she *gets* the way such a business would need to be run, and I think she could pull this off without pissing off a bunch of people the way OTW has been doing.

I would at least be *thoroughly* fascinated to see what she'd come up with, and would be willing to throw money in just to see what came of it.

Also, the really big thing? Is her emphasis on complete interoperability with all the "fooJournal", as adamjury called it, sites. If I could have a new home that *didn't* require me to read two separate f-lists, stay logged in on two separate sites, and *not have to leave anyone behind,* I would be all about that. Really. Really really.

Hell, I'd go to synedochic's service just because that's where all the cool kids will go. Plus I do have a lot of respect for her and she knows how this whole journal business works and she could totally pull it off. A lot of the people who'd migrate were also on various LJ support teams including Abuse, and most of them bailed during SixApart's reign.

agreed!

Mostly I think that, unlike a lot of the other groups throwing up LJ-clones, she's already been there. She knows how it works and she understands the sheer scale of what would need to be done to make it go.
