In a totally unhelpful note, I suspect the part that originally failed was a catalytic converter. Which is a nice piece of emissions control technology otherwise irrelevant to your car's continued operation. (Although, I admit that there are probably ways it can fail which will clog the exhaust system entirely, shutting you down) It's worth noting that as far as I know, they're still made with platinum (as the eponymous catalyst) which is why they're so expensive (and frequently reclaimed for salvage).
I was just about to suggest the catalytic converter, but you beat me to it. My boyfriend has been going through the same thing with his car - O2 sensors, engine lights, the whole nine and a half yards.
FFT: War of the Lions was supposed to release yesterday, and yet my local Wal-Mart *and* my local GameStop (according to their website so far) don't have it in yet! wtf!
Technically speaking (I've been over this a zillion times with the local Gameslop) yesterday was the ship date, so they actually get it *in* today. Since I'll be at rage_goblin's place tonight, no FFT:LW for me :(
I feel your pain, dear! The oh-so-wonderful 12 Lopez (my car) has started to act up again too... 120K with a book value of about the same as yours and I fear I'll end up having to put another four hundred in it... Somehow, I've managed to be rather fortunate *knock on wood* this year so far with repairs.
LoL and now she's making my car cost more money, and I have to find some TIME to get it into the shop. I shall be irate about this for another day or so. Srsly. DUMB.
