I think it depends on the individuals involved and the situation. There is a big difference between two people seeing each other 3-4 times a week over the course of the year, and even living together for a while, and only seeing each other once every couple weeks.

A year does seem like a relatively short time to decide on marriage but I also really think people should live together before they make that leap. Nonetheless I don't think it's necessarily an insufficient amount of time to make that kind of decision.

I really need to browse Fanfiction.net more though, in order to add more fanfics to my website, but I would agree in saying that it's actually quite hard to find quality fanfiction, except for the older, more underappreciated games (like the Breath of Fire series, there are some pretty nice BOF2 fics that I now have on my site

My parents were married for 30+ years before my mom died. They did the verbal disgust but never hit or fought either. They were opposites as well. It worked very well for them. Something I wanted to shoot for too. But like you just have to keep looking.
