I somehow came by a copy of this song at some unknown point in the past, and listened to it for the first time recently. It's now one of my favourites, partly because I can relate to it far too well, and partly because it's just a good song. Anyway I'm trying to trace where it's from, and wondered if you knew.

Sure, no problem. It's a song by a guy named Bryan White, called "Someone Else's Star." I don't know the album name off the top of my head, but I don't think it's from any particular movie soundtrack or anything. It's just a pretty country song.
