Am I the only one who thinks that "No Hopes, No Dreams" from the Final Fantasy X soundtrack sounds bizarrely like the Christmas carol "What Child Is This"? It trips me up every single time.
Yes, the melody line is close, but I don't think it's close enough to mistake one piece for the other. :)
And, you may have known this - "What Child Is This" is actually an arrangement of "Greensleeves", an old English folk song. I don't know if you've played Xenosaga: Episode I or not, but Mitsuda has a very nice E-flat piano arrangement of Greensleeves on the soundtrack.
It's not really close enough to mistake one piece for the other, but every time I listen to it, I'm like "Why am I listening to Christmas car--oh. Right." I think the fact that "No Hopes, No Dreams" is so heavy on the bells helps the impression, since I tend to associate bells with Christmas.
I did know that about "Greensleeves"! I haven't played Episode I yet, but it is on my shelf to deal with. Unfortunately, my list of unplayed games is rather sizable. But I am working my way through it.
Yeah, I find that I do not post nearly as much as I used to, but I do still try to read (and if I miss a day, I do catch up, however long it takes.) I haven't forgotten about any of you either. :)
Right now I'm buried in NaNoWriMo, obviously, but after so many years I've gotten that down to a science. With a little luck, I'll have written all 3000 of my word goal in about 2 hours total (not counting the time spent playing Bejeweled while finding the start of my scene), and then I get to have fun for the rest of the day. :D
