The new Attorney General had meetings with Russian officials during the campaign and then lied about it under oath. The link goes to a petition calling for his resignation.
It is when you deny under oath that the meetings occurred. This was during the campaign, about which there are serious questions regarding Russian hacking and interference with the process. The Attorney General of the United States committing perjury is about as serious as things get.
Open, official contacts would be a very good idea.

Edit: Russia is a great country, with great people, and has made many contributions to the world. A positive relationship between the US and Russia would be a good thing in general. The nature of the contacts referenced above, and the character of the American involved, are deeply troubling to many of us over here. Nothing you may see here is intended as an insult to the Russian people. It's our guys that I have the problem with.
I'm glad that cleared things up. The political situation over here is the worst that I have ever seen it. I have disagreed with presidents before on specific issues, but I believe this guy is out to make money for himself and his friends at the expense of the country and its people. I don't think that he is anything close to a decent human being, and his rhetoric seems to have been lifted straight from Hitler. I am not exaggerating my feelings. Wherever you are, don't trust him. He does not care about anyone but himself.
Substitute Jews for Muslims in his rhetoric and guess who you have. Even the audience response is the same. People cheered that idiot for "keeping the jobs at home" while wearing a hat made in China. Nothing against China, but hats can be made domestically. So can clothing and housewares.
We should start a class-action suit for emotional distress.
