Okay, so I've been helping organize the writers workshops and related programming for our local next-October SF convention, Context (also, contextsf for updates and/or if you want to put your 2 cents in on programming. No, seriously, you could totally bend us to your will over there!).

Check out what we've got so far:

Online Credit Card Payments? digitalred93 February 2 2006, 19:05:45 UTC
Last year they couldn't take them. Any chance in changing that this year? You could set it up on Paypal and some folks (like myself) would even be willing to pay the extra fee versus sending a check in the mail.

If you need any help setting something like that up, let me know - I've got some experience with it.

We very much want to be able to take credit card payments this year. We just have to have the con committee nail down a few issues amongst themselves first ;-)

That actually sounds worth a trip, depending on the cost. Very cool!

What a line-up. I want to come! I had such fun last time. I haven't been to very many conventions, actually. Context struck me as odd because the people running it didn't seem to be that interested in the authors they'd invited. I felt like I was imposing when I tried to talk with them. I usually hang out with the con runners and con goers as much as the con guests. The con-com seemed to want to be invisible, to do their job w/o fanfare, in the background. It wasn't bad--I just didn't expect it. Put it down to my newness at all this. Do you think that's a fair assessment, or was it just me or just that particular weekend?
