I must say, that's a great workshop for Gary to teach; that's a real strength of his.

Wow, how cool! I like the sound of "Maintaining Emotional Realism in Speculative Fiction," and world building is always interesting (though I think it's like fairyland--you have to be careful not to wander in there and never come out...you can get so caught up in world building that you never get around to telling a story in your world.

Well, for a weatherbeaten wanderer, I am remarkably immobile, but if I had wings, I'd fly over to Ohio and listen in.

I totally understand not being able to travel, but please keep the con in mind if circumstances change!

A very nice lineup.

Now I just need to convince my wife we should visit her friend who lives in Columbus that weekend. :-)

Looks like you talked her into it! :-)

Are you interested in being on panels? If so, I can add you to the participating writers list.

It's far enough off, we can plan ahead. Plus, $35 is cheap compared to Worldcon. It's an excuse for her to visit her friend.

As for panels ... I've done a few (emphasis on that three-letter word), but I'm never sure whether people would consider my credentials weighty enough for them to listen to what I might have to say on any particular subject. If you think I'm good enough, I'll step up. I take it seriously because of the credentials thing. :-)

One-time fiction editor for a webzine - check.
Longtime online writing workshop participant (OWW, specifically) - check.
Stories published (a few) - check.

I helped with the writing workshop at Worldcon in Toronto. Richard Chwedyk ran it. And the best/toughest panel I ever had was in Glasgow. Programming made me moderator for an improving your writing panel. I was fortunate enough to have a lot of strong, entertaining writers on the panel -- Simon Green, for example -- and the 90 minutes flew by.

I'd say yes, you'd do fine on panels -- drop Sue Kehner an email at fruitfli_22(at)yahoo.com

Would you be interested in helping out with a proposed peer critique story workshop session Saturday night? Some folks have requested it; it doesn't fit easily into the schedule at this point, and it'll have to conflict with the roast and the open poetry readings.

Basically, I'm looking for a couple of published folks with decent workshop experience to agree to be critique leaders -- the way it would likely work is that people would be assigned to small groups (5-6 people) and would distribute mss. ahead of time (likely through a Yahoo! group) and then meet from 9-?? p.m. to do in-person critiques.

Tim Powers? Wow, very nice. And from what I remember from my days staffing anime cons, Matt Greenfield and Tiffany Grant are *super* sweet to work with and really entertaining panelists.

Great lineup all around.

Good to hear about Greenfield and Grant! The con chairs were pretty excited to get them.
