Yesterday was my Doctor Who ficaversary. Wow. I have now been writing for this fandom a year now, which is..... Pretty much way longer than I've ever written for a fandom before.
The funny thing is, I wasn't entirely sure I would even like the series when I first heard about it. It seemed alright, but I had watched the ending of one episode (The Satan's Pit) when Rose ran into the TARDIS and tackle-hugged the Doctor waaaay back when it first aired in the U.S. I didn't really know what was going on at the time, but my friend Cierra was in love with it, and I figured I'd watch it. Course it ended shortly, so I shrugged it off and turned the channel. I promptly forgot about it until five years later when I watched the episode again and had a sense of deja vu.
After deliberating for a day, I finally gave in and bought it. By the time Rose was over, I was in love, and watched the entire series in a day. Season two was devoured at pretty much the same rate, and I cried heartily sometime around two 'o clock in the morning when Rose and the Doctor said goodbye. I remember that I couldn't even watch the next episode after I watched The Girl in the Fireplace, because I was hit by a plot bunny so hard I was terrified I would ruin the emotion I felt during that episode if I watched the next one. Thus, Acceptance was written, and I haven't gone back since.
In honor of this occasion, I will be taking fic requests. Give me a prompt and a pairing, and I will be happy to oblige. After all, it's not every year you reach your first year mark. :)
