This is what I get for not staying up to stalk gaming blogs. Thank you, painblossom for alerting me to this.

  • Fire Emblem DS (The remake of Sword of Darkness and Dragon of Light) is coming to the US sometime within the first half of next year. It's official title is Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon.

I seriously logged into my amazon last night to buy a ds when I read about the ds~i~. i am incredibly disappointed with the lack of gba slot though D: i've been having this incredible hankerin' to play golden sun (OH THE GOOD OL' DAYS) but yeah. it looks cool and all but I'm torn :(

I recommend waiting a bit longer, then. They'll probably be giving out more details, and I can't imagine them doing away with the GBA slot entirely since there are DS games that need it to play. (They'll probably sell as an attachment/add on, though. D=)

And if it turns out the DSi's lack of GBA slot isn't worth it, then the price for a Lite will probably drop a bit as stores try to make room of the DSi. Of course, this means that you'll be waiting until next year to get a DS, though. =(

The approach of the Fire Emblem game sounds pretty good, though.

It's too early to tell if the DSi will a good replacement for the DS Lite, though, especially since there's no GBA slot and a crapload of good games for the GBA that you need to play!

For now, I'm going to wait. If the DSi has no GBA support, then I'd recommend the Lite. On the other hand, if they start making games that require the DSi's features, I think I shall cry, because I'm not really all that interested in it!
