He didn’t have the chance since somewhere between O’Dark Hundred and Dawn, Ray curled up like a little kid next to Walt’s side. He only woke up when the shadow of the Iceman fell over them ( ... )

The bit you quoted was pretty much my favorite in the writing.
Re: Nate/Brad, I can see it, but not in-theater and not while they're both in the military. You can see it in both their characters that they respect the Officer/NCO line, and they don't cross it. In fact, many of the episodes show just how far Nate WON'T cross that line, so when I see fic that ignores that, it actually really bothers me.
Granted, for me outside of Ray/Walt, Gen Kill is ALL about the epic bromance.

Thank you for putting this in words! That's the real big thing that was 'off' for me when explored in fic. And, honestly, I, personally, see more chemistry with Brad and Ray (if because there is no line?)

As I said one of my biggest pet peeves in all military fandoms is the crossing of that divide, esp when it's obviously something really important to a character. Oddly enough, it's also why I yearn for a Hillbilly, Stone and Lip AU fic talking about being on both sides of that divide.

Gunny Wynn's reaction to the shower slip - AHAHA.
I really love anything Ray/Walt or you know, anything that makes legit sense character-wise.

The cook stove incident always intrigued me and cracked me up b/c, seriously, the everyone is there when Brad comes in. I just wanted to flesh out that scene a bit more.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you again!
