Beauty

As much as I hate ice (and snow, this winter), there is something intricate and beautiful about seeing Helios' golden rays bounce off the ice. It shimmers under my feet, throwing light up at my eyes as I walk. The skies are blue, tinted with lilac, and there are no clouds in sight ( Read more... )

I have to agree. There is truly something special about winter despite its pains :) For me I think one definitly glimpses the light of Apollon reflected back to us from Hyperborea in that blinding light of snow as well as the aurora borealis :) It is part of the things that make winter so special. The beauty that you have pointed out, like a tender gift from Aphrodite is also so very special too! Beautiful observation :)

Thanks! I think we all tend to see the imprint of our gods, particularly those we feel closest to, in the world around us. :) I can see how the winterlight is a reflection of Apollon, and how it is a gift from Helios, and Aphrodite, and... Heh. Its just one of those little 'oh' moments, when you see something and everything just clicks into place.

Winter? What winter? What is this "winter" and "cold" you speak of?

It's my second winter here, and this one is more typical than the one last year with *giggle* "all the snow" we received. (Two storms. Three inches each. Don't even get this New England transplant started!) Shoots are coming up. Trees are starting to hint at buds. All the rain is awesome . . . but I may miss harder winters.

I really do hate you. :( We've had temperatures plummet to -21C in some places, snow thats frozen quickly and turned to ice... It's actually been, apparently, the worst winter for the UK in twenty five years.

And you're already starting towards spring. Daaaamn you. :(

Well, okay, I suppose I don't want *that* harsh of a winter. But, some snow. Some cold. It still freaks me out that the plantlife never truly goes dormant here. Heh. It's *weird*

I've been loving it.

I wrap in a million layers, put on my favourite music and go for a walk. You can really see the hand of the gods in the beauty!!

I'd love it if it was warmer. :D But then I'm a greedy little shit when I want to be! And I'm happy enough outside when I'm wrapped up completely--it's when I'm inside and having to crouch in front of the fire to keep warm, or when I'm falling on my ass, that I get annoyed/sad.

I agree, though - the Theoi are truly everywhere! :)
