I really don't see her as being the most people friendly deity there is. I think there are only a very few she allows to get very close to her (which is true of all of them really, but more so with her), few others allowed to get even halfway close and a larger chunk that ought to just stay the hell back. Or such is my two cents.

Indeed--she's definitely one of the more distant gods. But then, she is one of the few virgin gods (so not even gods can get close to/intimate with her, apparently!), and she does prefer distant death-by-arrows over close and personal death-by-sword. ;)
I have to agree; and I think I'm in the large chunk, then. Which reminds me that I really need to sort out my calendar, I've been awful at sticking to it this winter, due to the madness of the holiday season and the calendar's relative newness. :/ My religious practice has really been lacking lately. Damned winter blues.

Of course, I've never approached Artemis in even a casual manner cos 1) I'm not sure I'd know how, 2) I'm hard pressed to figure, as one with an urban-focused spirituality, where in my life She'd have relevance, and 3) considering that and my own personal history, I'm hard pressed to figure out what she'd want to do with me. I once asked Apollon what i should do to honour other Theoi, and when the round came to Artemis, the answer seemed clear that (paraphrased) "you personally can best honour Her by respecting Her desire that you stay away; you offend Her on a level you don't offend The Others" - and I'm pretty sure He didn't just mean the cities (if you're on IM ever, feel free to ask me to expand on this ( ... )
