Musical Insanity - Recs anyone?
Going to see Inception tomorrow night (4th viewing woot)! One of the nearby campuses is playing it for $1.50 and half of the friends I'm going with haven't seen it so I'm really looking forward to their reactions. :D Also, I have Friday off from work! SO HAPPY. I have been so swamped this week, I need a break so badly.
So that's the happy part of the week. Otherwise it's been a pretty dreary time, especially today. And you know what made it worse? I realized that I was completely music-deprived. I've been playing the same 4 mix CDs in my car over...and over...and over...I have the order of all the songs on all 4 CDs memorized forward and backward. The local radio stations are playing the same top 10 hits over...and over...And then I went through my iTunes trying to find songs I wouldn't mind listening to for a few weeks in the car and realized I haven't bought or DLed anything new in months. No wonder I'm about to go crazy. I need new music desperately. So, please, FL, I'd like some suggestions from you. I listen to all kinds of music so anything goes, really. What are some songs you love? What have you been listening to lately? I would really love to hear something new. Please share your musical repertoire. =)
Inception things that made the week less craptastic:
foxxcub wrote a short snippet for me. <333 The romance trope: childhood best friends who meet years later and fall in love.
jibrailis has written the most delish Halloween treats thataway. All four ficlets made me :D on a day when almost nothing was going right. I was especially charmed by Adoraklutz Arthur (who is almost as accident-prone as I am) and that steampunk AU is so, so gorgeous. *warm fuzzies* Also! If you haven't yet read Tilt, you are missing out on something marvelous.
You're waiting for a stranger by mixtapestar is the most amazing College AU. Arthur meets Eames on Omegle. Need I say more? Fine, fine. This story is witty, cute, and utterly charming.
I just discovered a fantastic Buffy AU by penandthistle . How can you not like a fic with a summary that reads: Arthur's not sure what to be more concerned about: that the universe has given him a destiny that usually belongs to a girl, or that there's this vampire, Eames, that Arthur should be dusting, but mostly Arthur just wants to stake him in a sexy way.
In the Garden of the Commendatore by starvinbohemian is something completely different. It's one of the best Ariadne/Robert fics I've read but it's more than that. It confronts the moral gray area surrounding mind-crime. Each of the characters is vividly drawn and their interactions are intensely interesting. I have no interest in that particular pairing but this fic drew me in regardless.
