I think it's definitely worth giving it a go in 3 years. You'll never really know if you can stand it until you try it. I'd certainly vote for you, I'm in Melbourne.

I think you'd be unlikely to get in this year with so little time to campaign, but it could be good experience for three years' time. I'm yet another person in Melbourne who'd vote for you :-)

I 'third' the above motions: If you can afford it,use this election as a practise run, spend the next three years developing policies; networks; a polictical/media proifile etc (perhaps you could get involved with organisations/people like 'Crikey' and 'The Chaser' or start your own equivalent, maybe expanding your blog), then give it a real shot in three years time. I am another vote you could get if you decided to run in the seat of melbourne, and I'm fairly sure you'd have Shayne as well.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. And hope to meet up with you back in Melbourne sometime soon.

oh yeah, I'm back in two Fridays' time...

You know... I'm good friends with most of the Australian comedy world. I've got the chaser guys' phone numbers from back in the day when I organized those amnesty comedy nights. Maybe doing what the "best party" in iceland did isn't such a far-out idea after all

I'm in Melbourne too, would be happy to be one of the 50 required signatories if you decide to run.
