Help with travel arrangements...if this is allowed

Hi there. My initial travel arrangements for the concert fell through (surprise surprise :/), and now I'm left trying to figure out just how in the heck I'm gonna get from the southern US to NYC for the concert. My funds are limited but just enough, and I'm trying to see what I can do as far as flight tickets and bus tickets. Does anyone have any ( Read more... )

hm...I think it'd be better if you search for flight tickets to check the price and bus tickets too rather than asking here. Saying you're from Southern US is kinda vague...like,there are hundreds of town there and it all counts to determining a final price so it's kind of difficult to help...
Or you could check a travel agency, the sites etc to see about ways of paying for your trip in installments, that would make it easier to pay right?

Ughhhh, that sucks. Could you be a little more specific as to what state you come from? And do you have arrangements to stay at a hotel? I know that Amtrak trains cover a little bit of the southern US, but they can get expensive pretty quickly... You might want to price-check trains vs air fare, just fly if they're comparable in price. I don't know much about southern bus routes, I'm sorry. D=

Amtrak might be affordable if you can take a full day to travel each way - they stop in almost all major cities, and will definitely stop in New York. Looks like it would cost $250-$300 each way but of course the travel time is another big factor...

Atlanta - NY ~ around 20 hours
New Orleans - NY ~ around 30 hours
Houston - NY ~ around 46 hours

Check Amtrak tomorrow (Tuesday) at this link: http://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak/weeklyspecials to see if they have any last minute specials that would apply.

Also the airline specials for the weekend are usually posted starting on either Tuesday or Wednesday for the weekend. The day may vary by the airline.

Or better yet what's your nearest airport? I'm pretty good at finding cheap fares that's why I ask, but otherwise if you wanted to you can even do a flight/ bus combo and go with megabus: http://us.megabus.com/default.aspx

They usually have cheap bus fares. That's how I"m getting from VA to NY which was $20
