An open letter to all e-Bay sellers....

....especially those dealing in vintage clothing.

If it has a zipper it is not Victorian or Edwardian.

The zipper was not in common use in clothing, purses and muffs until the 1930s (maaaaybe there were some in the late 20's, maybe. Would those in the know back me up or correct me please).

and if it has a plastic handle the umbrella or parasol is NOT victorian.

Must we have to cry or laught of those strange ebay's auctions!
Just to have a reference but i suppose this could be different dates from places and countries, here i enclose a pattent refinement for zipper. we've got mention deposit pattent febuary 19, 1925.
accepted pattent june 9, 1925 and published pattent august 28, 1925.

Elsa Schiaparelli was the first designer to use zippers in fashionable clothes (30's-40s) but they were used for uniforms before that.
