"I killed her for them," she mumbled into his shirt front, damp with tears she hasn't realized she cried. "For all of them. She wanted Ginny but I couldn't let her have that kill. There have been too many that have gone unavenged."

This line captures so much of Molly's character that it leaves me fairly gasping. And the way you connected her pain to Harry's gesture...lovely. I so rarely find fics about the older generation and this makes me wonder why I don't see more of them.

Harry and Molly stare at each other, their shared pain translating into a silent communion.

I especially like this line. It's simple and hits you in the gut, because for a second, I felt like I was sharing their pain, too. Very, very nice!

Thank you! This is one of the favorite shorts I've written in a long time. For the longest time, I didn't like Molly but I've come to understand her and this was a fic that came out of this dawning.

Thanks! I'm endeavoring to write more First Order of the Phoenix fics. They need love, too! Molly seems to be pivotal between the First and Second Order since it's very probable she was around for the First (it's debatable but I just choose to believe that she was).

I hadn't really thought about Harry and Molly's connection beyond her mothering him--and this really brings that out in a subtle way.

Thanks! That has been one of the connections I've been thinking about lately... what that would be like when Harry is an adult. What they might share as adults now. That sort of thing.
