The obstructions (an idea from a college course which got its idea from a movie) come into play after you write the initial story. This one was written for the prompt (which I kinda incorporated but didn't do word for word this week) and then they'll give a list of things to rewrite the story. It's mostly things like "Don't use any adverbs/adjectives" or "Rewrite so that none of your sentences have more than 10 words" or stuff like that. Not critique so much as just a new way of looking at the stories. It's a very interesting concept and I can always use more "rewriting" practice.
