Connection: 010 // Reference: Depression and Death

Why is it that when we have a relatively normal and peaceful time that someone gets hurt or ends up dead shortly after?

From the way he was speaking on the network I am surprised he was not diagnosed for depression at an earlier time...
I suppose it's just a matter of sitting and waiting for him to come back to find out exactly what he was trying to ( Read more... )

scanning public posts, srs kotoko is srs, i see what you did there, death on an almost regular basis

There was a detective case back home where he attempted to find a mass-murderer named Kira. He fell in love with the prime suspect, Light Yagami, and his suspicions had been right; Yagami was Kira.

In the timeline Mello, Matt, and I come from, L was already dead. Here, especially now that Light is here, L is...infatuated with Yagami. Mello, Matt, and I disprove of this, of course, because Yagami killed him on our world.

My best guess is that L did this to forget Yagami, but the action...killing himself was idiotic. I don't understand why he didn't get more information on death here first.

The Animus aren't likely to take what we want to lose.

People with depression are rarely fully aware of their actions. Still with all the signs it is amazing that no one helped him receive proper medical assistance to control such a thing.

It also begs the question of just where the sleeping pills came from.

On the matter of information about deaths here what more is there to say on such a topic? The dead do not stay dead and they must pay for their return with something valuable.
Assuming that his memories of this Light Yagami are most important to him then the chances of those being taken are high.

All good points. As for what might be taken, it's impossible to say, now. When I died, I lost important memories, and despite that, it was fine; I'd discarded them anyway, given the circumstances.

However, the Animus seem to enjoy making us suffer. Why would they remove memories that are making one suffer? And if their "toll" is collected as punishment for us being in their world, as it might be, then I doubt they'd remove a cause for our suffering...

Saying they enjoy making us suffer seems to be generalising things. They have done several things on occassions which have been liked by certain residents. For example the recent darkness.

In the death instance it is curious. Suppose that they do not care about the suffering when choosing the price and they solely take things based on the importance.
Now suppose that the importance has to line up with the manner of death in some way or perhaps the interest paid after the death.

There is also always the chance that the Animus may have certain likings to people and punish as they wish rather than a fixed penalty for everyone.

I do not listen to you. I will make observations if I so wish to.

I merely wish to observe and try to understand.
I am not going to do anything to anyone.

Please refrain from hurting innocent bystanders. Hitting someone will not solve anything.

But it sure make you feel better. I might as well save it for L.

I shall take your word for that.

...When he returns if things have not gone as planned violence might be the last thing to show towards him.

L is probably going to be stuck in the clinic under watchful eyes when he comes back. Both due to injuries he's practically asked for and the fact that he might repeat the process.

You get to enjoy the suicide watch. =D

I do! :D

Oh well, he was indeed depressed, so you're right, he could repeat it, though that wasn't his major reason, so you never know.

I swear if L did it to get out of his unrequited love situation...thing then he'll be the second character on suicide watch for something love related.
