very interesting... in common law countries they have the legal concept of adversary possession, which basically means if you occupy and use land that doesnt belong to you and even if the real owner knows but doesnt or can't kick you off it, then after a certain passing of time the land legally passes to the occupier who can then sell it as his or her own...
something tells me that if the state here needs this land back, it will be taken back without much fuss, and after I asked around, people realize that and have nothing against it. But - interesting development.

I'd noticed that you no longer updated your old blog. I'm glad to find the new one. Are you now a farmer, living in your wife's village? Or are you still in the city?
Ah, sorry to have misled - we live in the city - Zhuhai, quite a developed center in the south of China, a tiny piece of land is just a part of an ex-village removed to build a university and some houses. Being a farmer (20 minutes a day) is only a hobby : ) But gives some food for thought (and not only : )) and exercise.
