For what I like to read, this sounds like the most interesting of her books to me!

I tried reading Austen in my early 20s, and it did nothing for me. The Victorian style of storytelling couldn't capture me, even though I read ancient historical texts and stories and lots of modern 20th century ones. But this one where you are maybe living in this fantasy and only later find out what is really going on... a social mystery, that sounds like good fare. I'm not interested in romantic triangles and never care "who gets to be with whom" but I love a good character portrait or psychological inner world.

I am not into romances or interested in who gets with whom either. This was definitely my favorite out of them all.

This particular narrator, Alison Larkin, has been really enjoyable to listen to and she has won awards for some of her work and I can see (hear?) why!
