More confirmation that I just need to leave FaceBook alone.

The group for beginning carriage driving I have been a part of for a few years now apparently added a rule against bitless driving because it is "not safe."

They deleted my comment on a post asking about a harness maker.

I screenshot the notification.

That's hilarious and I'm sorry that happened.

I keep thinking this is like sex education almost.
You can't teach boys and girls about the existence of genitalia at school in biology class... because then they'll get curious about it and ask questions at home that are difficult for prude parents to answer!

It's not like you were advocating bitless... or showing driving bitless... you were just showing a bitless driving set up. But you can't make people CURIOUS now, can you? DANGEROUS!!

It is funny. I have moved on, it's not worth any more energy than I've already thrown at it.

Technically I was trying to show off the breastcollar, trace carriers etc. The horse just happened to be wearing a bitless bridle too.

CURIOSITY IS DANGEROUS! You remember what happened to the cat?!

We've already had some discussions about male and female anatomy with the boys because, well, we have horses of both genders and things are pretty big and obvious in that case plus they saw Zeke being born.

Sailor has never had animals or pets... and he was AMAZED when I told him what it's like when male horses pee.... and how it is... really, let's admit it... astounding. The whole leg stance, the stretch and set up... and then the hot torrent.

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back!
Which is irrelevant to the horse-piss paragraph above.... and going back to bitless bridles and silly people.

The looks on kids faces when they see the horses pee for the first time is priceless!

I have had several run ins with dumb FB moderators recently as well so I sympathize. It's like "ok if you only want feedback from idiots go ahead" - one was a clueless amateur I know posting a video about saddle fitting that was full of misinformation that I commented on which was deleted since my comment wasn't nice 🙄 , the other was suggesting that a kid shouldn't intentionally piss her parents off if she wants to live in their house - that one was deemed anti-LGBTQ+ though I wasn't referring to her sexual orientation or gender at all.

I imagine it is some backlash from a few bitless advocates that were a bit obnoxious about promoting bitless as the answer. They did not announce the rule change and it wasn't there when I started in the group, which is annoying. Still, it was a perfectly good comment that didn't even mention bitless. My follow up comment after someone asked about his headgear was in reference to using it in long lining and young animals. I don't want to have to think that hard about what I post. I joked with someone about posting pictures, I could post this one on the BCD group:

I’m in an equestrian group where “negative opinions are not allowed” - it’s not a serious horse group, but that forced sugar coating is so unpalatable!

I tend to couch my words and avoid being abrasive, but nothing negative whatsoever? even pointing out a safety issue?

Even when someone chimes in to mention a negative experience with a vendor to warn others, the admin shuts down the thread.

It feels incredibly forced and saccharine.

Not even "buyer beware" warnings! That stinks.
