Für die Spinnermenschen

This morning I was feeding the herd and about ready to put hay in Tru-D's bag when I noticed something on my shoulder. It was not a small something. It was moving.

Insert shriek, arm flail, heeby-geeby dance, and then eagerly looking for the creature.

I'm fairly sure it's a Huntsman. It's not a tarantula for sure. the legs don't look right for a crab spider, crab spiders generally have legs that bend back towards the back.

If it is a Huntsman they're nice to have around and are not generally interested in interacting with humans.

From what I've read the Giant Crab Spiders are also referred to as Huntsmen. It wasn't aggressive at all as I tried to nudge it off my path. I imagine had it not startled me I might have been able to persuade it off my shoulder without incident. I do admit my nerves for handling a large spider are not so good as I would like.

I first saw one when we were building the "addition." They don't show up very often, but they're kind of cool.

Not the best way to make friends, spiderbro (or ladyspiderbro, idk). At least it survived, unlike the one I found on my pillow three-ish years ago.

The pillow would be quite the invasion of personal space!

Surprise! The cane spiders in Hawaii used to give me a fright, but none of them ever landed on me, thankfully!

Cane spiders are pretty big!

I'm pretty sure it crawled from the flake of hay onto my shoulder. Exciting!

Oh yeah. We had some run-ins with them while in Hawaii.

The spider was all "this shoulder looks suitable since the hay is moving" lol!
