Yesterday I harassed a Hanoverian again. I am sure Ellie is wondering why I keep showing up and ruining her day ( Read more... )

We have a 6 year old Hannoverian at our barn, who occasionally forgets to horse but knows how to dragon. I know a 21 year old Hano that forgets how to horse still. I think it is a breed trait. I'm hoping Addy got the shire half of the brain...

Do you know what line she is out of? Some of the Hano lines are very immature at 5. Not that it is an excuse.

Tru-D does seem like a special creature, and you've obviously done a wonderful job with her. I could see how working with other youngsters would be a let down after that sort of high point.

This is her sire: Salto

And this is her dam: Whisper in the Dark

I'd be curious to hear about her bloodlines from someone who knows a bit more than I do (which I recognize the name Furioso and that's it!). The dragon part is both funny and annoying. I kindof get why people sometimes call them "Dumbloods" now.

Thank you! She was a skittish little thing when we brought her home, but really wants to please and figure out what you're asking. I really look forward to seeing where we go. I have definitely learned that my definition of "broke" is a lot different than most people's!

I'm not an expert, but I have spent some time looking at different lines, here are the generalizations ( ... )

You know more than I do! She is sweet, but doesn't quite feel like she is firing on all cylinders mentally. Maybe it is a lack of maturity or holes in her training. Hard to tell.

I haven't noticed a brand, but I'm not sure how all that works. I assume she's registered, but I don't think she's in the mare book (assuming the Hanoverian stud keeps mare and studbooks separate).
