Der Versuch

So I have one of those health applications on my phone that came with it. Never downloaded it and I think it is one of those that you can't delete (like the worthless NFL app, Flipboard, and a dozen others that the phone company thinks I must need). It had a step tracker so I figured "what the heck" and turned it on last night. The preset goal ( Read more... )

I used to wear a fitbit and count my steps. The 6-10k goals are pretty pathetic for people like us. I reset it to 15k and only didn't hit it when I was taking a "I'm not leaving the house or getting out of my pjs" day. I slaughtered my friends in the weekly step counter total comparisons.

I remember you mentioned the Fitbit a while back. I think I'm more curious about my distance and speed than "steps" and heart rate and such might be good too, but I'm not quite sold on having one more thing I have to wear or carry. Maybe if I had a couple more client horses and wanted to check speed and distance on training rides ...

Fitbit only really does steps and stairs. I got tired of wearing it. Mine got too grimey and stopped charging and I didn't feel like replacing it.

You know, there's the balios sensor for horses you can attach to girths if you want to monitor your training...

Yeah, the fitbit sounds like it would do nothing of what I am actually curious about. Plus you have to sync it with your phone or computer to get most of the data off, correct?

The Balios sensor looks AWESOME, but it appears they are still in pre-production stages. The Kickstarter says April so I assume once they fill their backer orders they'll open for regular production.
