I worked with Roxanne and Gypsy first this morning. We were in the roundpen at the property working on the canter. Roxanne had not yet cantered on Gypsy and had done it a little on Kash earlier this year. Yay! So the mule bug's bitten you, right? You want your own mule, right? :P I can see you with a nice draught mule...

It's interesting to read the account of Maybell's wreck and the run-up to it. It seems to me that mules are pretty smart about saying "Um, excuse me, I'm not happy with this" and trying to tell us politely before they have to shout it at us.

If I went mule it'd definitely be a draft. We were talking about the herd the other day and I told Chris I don't see ever having another light breed horse at this point. For what I do something with a bit of bone is better, especially coupled with their generally chill demeanor (not that drafts can't be hot and energetic, but it's a different type of hot than an Arab).

Maybell seems like quite the nice little molly and I look forward to getting to know her better. I feel bad Vickey had the wreck, but she admits herself she should have read the signs. Mules need mule trees! I hope both of them can be happy and accident-free now that they have a saddle that fits properly.
