Last week Chris went with me to work Bud Wednesday. I didn't realize how nervous Chris had gotten driving, but I don't think we've hitched up one of ours since the Sedona trip in March. We had an open stock trailer come up behind us, which made Bud a little nervous, but he did really well. Chris was less chill about it, but survived. We trotted ( Read more... )

Do you know what's causing Chris' nervousness? Glad he got out there and did it, though. Sounds like he handled it all fine.

Hope it's nothing serious with Tru-D!

I haven't heard of the Balance Ride saddles before. I Googled them to look, but then realised they were Western and I don't know enough about Western saddles to tell the difference (although I could tell that the stirrups were further forward than usual). It sounds extremely uncomfortable on the thighs, though!!

"I think the only piece of tack that fits every horse is a lead rope" - that is such a great quote!

I think it's a combination of not doing it for months and being unfamiliar with the horse. I've been working with Bud two to three times a week for the last three years and this was Chris' first time even seeing Bud if I remember right so unfamiliar horse, unfamiliar place and driving on the road with the occasional bits of traffic instead of in an arena or out in the middle of nowhere removed from such things.

Tru-D is moving better today. Not 100% yet, but the vet said that could take a week to 10 days after being stomped on my a horse who is almost double her size (Charm-N is close to 1700lbs). No noticable swelling, didn't care yesterday when I palpated it hard and we don't have her on any painkillers now. I might lunge her briefly tomorrow to check her movement.

I think there are some rare people whose conformation magically jives with it, but I am obviously not one of those people!

I hope Tru-D will be ok and it's not serious, but my how she's grown! She's completely different to when I last saw pictures of her. She's gorgeous :)

I worked her today and she looked 100% and full of way too much energy!

She has definitely grown! She doesn't look like much of a baby most of the time, especially standing next to Kash! She has a lovely movement too and shows some good potential.
