Running Bear Sidepull/Cross-under with Moss Rock Reins

May 04, 2015 21:50

The sidepull noseband arrived for the Running Bear Smart Bridle I ordered last month. They had flubbed the order and forgotten the rings on the noseband when they initially shipped it so I sent just the nose piece back because the rest of it fit beautifully ( Read more... )

I love Teddy and Running Bear. She's great to work with and I like her gear. That's where I got Ozzy's endurance bridle. I also recommend Amanda from Taylored Tack.

The quality is definitely top notch! There are many things that I really like about their equipment and I hope to have use of this bridle for many, many years.

Thanks for the added recommendations! I had seen the Taylored Tack before, but it was past the price range I wanted as I was experimenting with the bitless bridles. That and I wanted to get away from the jaw strap and rein ring configuration that is standard for the cross-under bridles. That is why I ultimately went with Moss Rock because of her innovative rein design and having a throatlatch stabilizes the headstall. Running Bear has its own cool features and allows me to use the Moss Rock reins.

Haha, great photos of Kash! That's a cool looking bridle. So is the crownpiece just adjustable, or does it come off like a mule bridle? I've been looking for a bitless mule bridle and they're really hard to find. The only one I've found so far was $100 and that was BEFORE I added on shipping to get it here!

Thanks! He's a wonderful goof and very photogenic despite my never getting pictures of him anymore...

The crown has a buckle on each side and you could remove it, but with the keepers that hold the straps down you would probably want to install a clip/snap for ease of use.

This one was $100 or £66-ish for just the headstall.

The one from Moss Rock Endurance (which I have three of now!) is only $86 (£57) to start and that includes the reins and custom sizing. Lisa has been great to work with and I imagine she could add a buckle or adjustment to the crownpiece if you wanted for minimal extra cost.

Good luck finding a bitless bridle for Marty! If you hit the "reviews" tag you can find my longer review of the Moss Rock bridles.

Thanks! We've done lots of dumb and crazy things together over the last eleven plus years. He's really turned into a nice horse from the barely greenbroke creature he was at six!
