Yesterday we set up the roundpen. Chris got all the panels loaded up while d got the boys ready for the day. I walked them over to Marty's before meeting Chris at the property to set it up. I had to go teach a lesson before we finished, but we just had the last two or three panels left. It looks quite good if I say so myself

Will you drag the stall detritus into the current dirt in the arena? Is the ground very hard or naturally sandy? Do you water your arenas?

Where I am, in the country about a hour East of Seattle water is cheap, it costs more for the monthly hookup fee than our usage (then again we don't really have to water the lawn much) but in the city of Seattle water is very expensive so much so that it's cheaper to buy food than water your garden. Was curious how it is in the desert, and in your rural zone.

We typically just do grass in Summer because it is nice seeing green when it is 110 outside and Bermuda is fairly hardy, but after two years without a yard we're trying winter grass for the first time (rye).
You would think water would be cheaper living in such a wet area as Seattle! I imagine they don't have to drill wells and just use surface water?
The problem we'll have if people keep moving here is they'll bleed the aquifers dry, and then what? Not going to manage well on 6" of rainfall a year!
