Cersei's patience with her son, never as good as she would have admitted in the time since she had lost him, was growing shorted and shorter as his mood darkened. She was making an attempt to sweep her hair up into something less wild - without glass or servant to assist her, but appearances must be kept now that she was once again the mother of a king, hadn't they? - when his newest sharp words came.

She rolled her eyes. "Indeed she has," she returned unimpressedly. "Had you just now realized?"

The queen gave a snort. "Such is the true character of the bride you wished for so dearly." Once Cersei had wished it too, but she had learned quickly enough that the girl was as traitorous a wolf as the rest of her family. Had Joffrey only learned the same just as quickly.

"The bride you wished for me as well I believe." His words will still dark, demanding almost. He stoodf stiff, his arms folded across his chest. "Why did you not tell me?"

Cersei coolly arched a brow, not yet bothering to turn towards him. "Tell you what, precisely?" she sneered. "I thought you clever enough to realize that she was no longer worth your while, my son."
