No, baby!fan on Tumblr, Benedict Cumberbatch is not a "huge douche" because he doesn't think that Sherlock and John have a canon sexual relationship, or because the explicit fanfic he's had forced on him by certain fans makes him uncomfortable.

*headdesk* This is why we can't have nice things.

bbc sherlock, not this again, fans behaving badly, oh christ grow the f*ck up

I shouldn't get so worked up over stuff like this, but JEEBUS. The sense of entitlement. Subtext is no longer enough for the baby!fen -- it's either text, or everybody involved in the show must be a homophobic d-bag. *hands*

Oh for crying out loud. Some gormless wonder did the exact same thing to Laurence Fox (Hathaway from Lewis) not that long ago sending him links to her Lewis/Hathaway slash fic. Nearly scared the poor bloke off Twitter. What on earth makes them think....no forget it they dont think, thats the problem..... Bloody hell this is what gives the rest of us a bad name.

Truth. This has happened in every single fandom I've been active in. It always ends badly. These idiots NEVER LEARN.

Oh, God, I feel your pain. WHY do these little twits not get this.

Thou shalt not involve the actors in fandom. It rarely turns out well. And, yeah, it understandably tends to make them uncomfortable.

The worst ones? The idiots who hand over fannish creations that they did not create to actors or TPTB. That's lose/lose for the creator of the fannish work and the recipient.

Oh, God, yes -- there have been several cases of links to explicit art being sent to the Sherlock cast. And to Martin Freeman's partner and mother of his children, for God's sake. The fail is beyond belief.

The creators/cast/crew have been very patient and friendly to slash fans thus far, but that won't continue if these tools don't learn to separate fantasy from reality and BEHAVE. *rant rant rant*

There is always going to be that element of Teh Batshit Crazy in fandom, I fear. Seems to be the nature of the beast. But there's more of it with the advent of the Internet in fandom--easier access.

And it's not just Sherlock-dom. But the cases you mention are reprehensibly extreme. Goddamn fucktards.

*rants with you*

Thank you for your support. *g* I understand there have been similar shenanigans in Lewis fandom. My condolences. If only there were a way to keep idjits off the internet.
