Completely randomly (and because I've been enjoying your Grantaire Feelz), I'd like to add that in the musical, 90% of the stagings I've seen play up the E/R angle a LOT. The worst offenders on my watch have been Jon Robyns and Adam Linstead during the 25th Anniversary Tour, because they conferred on how to comfort Marius after Eponine's death, then after the Drink With Me verse that isn't in the movie (could it be your life means nothing at all?) Enjolras gave Grantaire a quiet talking-to, heads together, and then an awkward attempt at a hug after Grantaire fell apart after Gavroche's death, on top of longing glances galore.

(And then they were ushers at the wedding and did Ministry of Silly Walks and I was hard-pressed not to issue kicks at stage-door.)

So, yes. 90% musical canon, those two.

I have seen clips of that hug, or, well, some hug. It was hugtastic.

I hope they restore that Drink With Me verse on the DVD, that would be awesome.
