...anyone fancy a stroll?

I have a hypothesis to test. With this in mind, should next weekend prove dry, I plan on headin' somewhere that has a five or six mile walking route that is mainly non-tarmac and giving it a darn good testin'.

I wouldn't necessarily object to company; especially if said company happens to know a nice route with good views, and is happy to amble :)

One of the easiest ones I know is the portion of the Ridgeway that forms a bridlepath above Chinnor. You can walk e.g. to The Lions at Bledlow (great lunches) and back in that sort of distance, and once you've gone up the hill at Chinnor (a short bit) it's a flat walk along the escarpment so you get great views. Link for the area - you can see lots of unnamed white lanes there, and they're nearly all completely walkable. (If you turn right at the top of the hill instead of left, 3 miles takes you to the M40, a useful halfway point for measuring the walk but not nearly as scenic!)

I see how that works. And I like the integrated pub plan :)

I grew up with those walks and that pub (and others) nearly always featured. :)
