For those of you who haven't heard, writer David Halberstam was killed in a car accident this morning.  He was 73 - but had spoken at UC Berkeley this weekend, and was on his way to interview someone for the new book he was writing.

For no particular reason, I love David Halberstam.  I associate him with two things, first of all: Simon Winchester
