Arlington, Va.: What advice do you have for recent grads that have a good job and want to buy a house. The housing market in D.C. is basically unaffordable and I feel like I am throwing money away paying upwards of $700 in rent each month. I love this city but housing prices tempt me to move elsewhere.

you might not necessarily save much money - jobs in dc also pay a lot more than iowa

i guess not in the summer in grinnell. but i know i spend so much more money just being here at home - more to spend it on than while i'm at school.

i love those shirts. the cuba one reminds me of a pin my mom has that says "i want to go to cuba." when i think about that pin, and how old it is/ how long this ridiculous freedom-destroying travel ban has been going on, i want to cry. i just can't really believe it's true. yay jimmy carter; boo _everyone else_.

we should live in grinnell for years, save up $24,000 or whatever the fine is for going to cuba, and then go there. :)

i agree with everything.

let's just hide in the younk for years, preparing for active combat until we can take over the government and be free from yankee imperialism ;) meaning, save tons of money so we can say "screw it" to the fine. deal?

I found you randomly too. Can you add me? (at present I am friendless, isn't that sad?) I dig the Cuba shirt- the "some restrictions apply" cracks me up. And really, anywhere you want to live, is too expensive to buy right now. And who wants to live where you don't want to, even if it is affordable. Plus, the salaries there would be crappy too. I have a friend that moved out to CA, and he can't find anything ou there to buy. It's just crazy!
