In case it isn't obvious, I went back to my other blog when the parallels gig ended. I learned a bunch and Kir is a great guy (running the OpenVZ both with him at scale was the highlight of the whole experience), but looking back I have a few observations ( Read more... )

Oddly, Amazon called me a month or two back wondering if I wanted to work on the Kindle Fire. (Sounded like fun, but still dowanna move. Fade's getting her doctorate at UT. I'm starting to think Portland might be interesting, though. Or maybe Seattle...)

I worked a 3 month contract at Polycom which led to them hiring me full-time. Not hatcheting my counts before they chicken on the stability of it all, but so far it's nice.

I had figured out, from some of your Tweets, that you're no longer working for the Russians. But who are you working for nowadays? What's new in your life?

Polycom, working on the guts of video teleconferencing systems.

Same condo, same cats, fade's still taking classes... Aboriginal Linux had its' 1.0 release. I accidentally joined the Funtoo core team. The usual. :)

I have a pretty good idea what Fade's up to, from her LJ and her Twitter; she's taken up rock climbing, signed up for more Greek courses, and has been wondering whether to do another writer's workshop. It's you who have been mostly silent.

I'm glad to hear about the Aboriginal Linux release, but the rest of your news is a bit cryptic. Googling explained what Funtoo is, but how on earth do you join the core team of a Linux distribution by accident?

Wow, the more I hear about the Russia, the more it seems to be a "bad place to visit, and I wouldn't want to live there" sort of place. No wonder so many Russian women sign up to marry total strangers from the West.
