Day 16: Music Room

It was about the same time that Scar threw his threatening words at Kimbley that he felt two hands grasp his arms ( Read more... )

Lust was pleased to be pulled away from her conversation with Haru. He asked too many questions about the past, and he'd revived her longing for Gluttony's presence. She missed her constant companion. And in the Music Room she could avoid him, as he had that habit of turning into a cow.

Following her nurse into the now-familiar room, Lust scanned the area with her eyes. Her lips turned up in a smile as she spotted the Ishbalan, looking miserable as usual on a couch. She was tempted to prod and bite at him verbally, but she held that fear that he would continue his questioning. And yet...

She was weak before him as always. She crossed the music room, unable to listen to her better judgment, and stood before him with a smug smirk curving up her lips.

"You look positively miserable, Scarred One."

Scar's eyes flicked up towards her and then down again. Although this was too much like their courtyard meetings for comfort, he supposed that outside was the last place he wanted to be at the moment. He kept his eyes trained on the door, but the state alchemist hadn't yet entered.

"Hard not to be when I can't shut that bastard up for good," he grumbled, running a hand through his shock of white hair. He dropped his arm and leaned his elbow on his knee, line of vision darting towards the door every time it was opened. He shook his head and glared at the former homunculus.

"What about you? Your dog's leash broke on you?"

"Which bastard?" Lust found herself asking, curiously. She stretched, languidly, and dropped down onto the couch beside him. He did seem agitated by something. Like an animal that had caught scent of a predator. But which predator?

"Pardon? I'm not sure I know what you're talking about." She raised her eyebrows at him, a puzzled if still amiable look crossing her features. She relaxed against the back of the couch, her elbow propped up on the back and her side pressed against the cushions so that she was facing him.

"Haru." Scar grunted, scooting away from the woman and slightly pressing himself into the armrest opposite her in the manner of a child afraid of catching cooties. "You're using him, aren't you?"

He scowled and turned away, crossing his arms and shutting his eyes as he spoke.

"And by 'bastard,' I mean the Crimson Alchemist." One eye opened to shoot daggers at the woman. "The one you neglected to tell me about."

While Sora had been worried over Scar and that stranger getting into a serious fight, it had all been cut off when people had come around to take Scar away. After that, there had been a whole lot of hustle and bustle as they were all escorted to the music room.

There really were a lot of new patients, weren't there? Sora wasn't sure what to think of that. On one hand, meeting new people was never something he wanted to miss out on. On the other hand, that meant there were so many more people that were stuck in this place ( ... )

Axel learned a lot of things during the past 30 minutes.

For one, running fast didn't exactly mean that you'd get away if there were orderlies grabbing at you and holding until you were finally able to calm down. Also, apparently all the men had sacks of steel, which he learned 5 seconds attempting to calm ( ... )

The music was pretty calming and when Sora got to thinking about his days back home, where he could sprawl on the sand and let the sun beat down on him and just doze--

Even though he had felt so well-rested upon waking up that morning, he couldn't help getting drowsy. There was hardly anyone in the room thus far, anyway, so it wasn't like he could find someone to talk to. If he had any musical aptitude (other than what he'd learned in Atlantica, anyway), he would have tried plucking a few strings or pressing a few keys, but no.

Therefore, when someone fell on him-- no, no, sat on him-- he was completely ambushed. Ow ow ow ow. "AGH!" he sputtered. Heavy! Sora focused on shoving whoever it was off of him first and foremost, wriggling out from underneath the other person and getting to his feet ( ... )

It was safe to say that Axel wasn't expecting to the armchair to start wiggling all over the place, but laziness leeched to him like a hooker on the streets and the redhead found himself entranced by its cheaper rates (In this case, less calories to burn) than following his instincts to get up or else whatever was behind him would bite his face off.

But aforementioned 'thing' finally managed to squirm out from underneath him, giving the redhead a clear view of what was behind him in the first place.

...

"Sora?" Now this was like getting a skateboard rammed right in the face. DiZ was an idiot, yeah, but why would he have some kind of carbon copy of the Keyblade Master running around in this place like it was nothing at all?

In the equivalent of .5 seconds Axel was on his feet and all over Sora, feeling the teen to make sure he was real.

"What the-? What is this?!"

Haru started grumbling the moment he heard the intercom mention the words 'music room'. Of all the places they had to go today, that one was the last one he wanted to be led to. His new nurse, however, wasn't really acknowledging any of his protests, and Haru was beginning to wonder if she was quite all there in the head, from her airy manner.

Needless to say, the moment he stepped inside the room and his ears caught the first strands of musical melody, there was a loud pop! and he transformed into his cow-form.

Sighing a curse under his breath, Haru trudged towards one of the windows, preferring to stay out of the way until he could leave the music room and return to his other human shape.

Tohru let the nurse lead her into the music room, she figured it was easier to just let them take her where they wanted then her putting up a fight about it. Entering she looked around and spotted Haru right away (who wouldn't notice the cow in the corner?) and made her way over.

"Why did you change?" She asked curiously not seeing anyone around him that would have caused the change.

Haru glanced over at her at the sound of her voice, looking as put-out as a cow could. "Music room," he replied simply, shaking his head. "Dunno why. It happens everytime I walk in here. I change back again when I leave. Go figure."

Of course. Get settled into a bit of conversation with someone who was a genuinely a nice person and the intercom goes off. With a long list of names she'd never heard before and... Hyne, she really didn't want to be in the music room today.

She pulled out an apple that she'd saved from breakfast and startied nibbling on it as she looked around. The redhead was new, the cow very familiar... though she still didn't know the young man's name. Still no sign of Alex, though she could feel the other woman's bond in her mind. Quistis sent a query down the link, hopefully wherever the woman was, she'd be able to respond.

Quistis looked over. And did a double take.

"Einarr?" She hadn't seen him ever since Aeris had renamed the merged Kadaj and Sephiroth personalities and the bond between him and Alex had been severed. No... he didn't feel like Einarr... he felt more like Kadaj....

"Kadaj?"

What the hell had this place done now?

Oh hells.

"How much do you remember, Kadaj? Of here? I haven't seen Loz yet today," or Squall or Zell or Sephiroth..., "but he was here yesterday. Your other brother... I'm sorry I don't remember his name, hasn't been seen since the doctors took him days ago."

Mother... mother... oh... "Jenova. I don't think she's awake anymore. Not after they stripped her out of a lot of us."
