Novel: half way

Quite exhausted... I got behind this week because of crazy family stuff. So I wrote 5,034 words today and caught up pretty well. Some of it was easy. Sometimes writing was like trying to get sap from a maple in winter, if I may paraphrase Melville.

I really focused on micro stuff for the first half of the month, too. I was really interesting in setting and character and less with the action. That changed as I got closer to the end. I starting painting with broad strokes and, like you, jumping ahead with only the thinnest of narrative to connect. A couple times I resorted to section breaks with astericks, and once, where I had to write out a big fight scene, I just skipped ahead to the post-fight scene and went from there with nothing more than "Big fight" as filler. :-)
