I loved Richards' apology on "Letterman," where his defense seemed to be, "I'm not racist, I'm really, really creepy." I think that the old line he tried - "What's so crazy about this is that I'm not a racist" - always seems like such a lie. I would much rather him come out and say, "Like many people, I have racist moments, whether it's in a joking manner or not. Obviously, as a performer on stage, that's an unacceptable time to have one of those moments, and all I can do now is apologize knowing that most of the world's no longer interested enough in me to give me a second chance. I apologize and I'll do my best to understand why it happened, and make sure it never happens again."
